VideoMelter

Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-08-15

What this is

VideoMelter is a study tool that turns a YouTube video's spoken content into a text transcript, and optionally an AI-generated summary or study document — for studying a lecture, reviewing your own content, taking notes, or making a video's content accessible to someone who can't watch or listen to it.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use VideoMelter. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use VideoMelter with the consent of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

Accounts

You can create a VideoMelter account (email/password, or "Continue with Google") to save your history and to subscribe to a paid plan. An account is required for paid plans and for saved history; some features can be used by providing an email address without creating one. You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, reset your password if that option is available to you, or contact us immediately at support@videomelter.com. Resetting your password signs you out of every device and session tied to your account — it does not delete your account, your saved history, or any other data.

Your content and our licence to use it

You retain any rights you have in the video URLs, custom instructions, and other content you submit to VideoMelter. By submitting content, you grant us a limited licence to access, process, store, and transmit it — including sending it to the third-party providers described in our Privacy Policy — solely to provide, secure, and operate the service for you. This licence does not transfer ownership of your content to us.

Your responsibility for what you submit

You are responsible for having the right to transcribe any video you submit — for example, because it's your own content, it's licensed for this kind of use, or your use is permitted under applicable copyright law, including through a licence, permission, an exception such as fair dealing, or other legal authorization. VideoMelter does not make that determination for you. This tool does not check ownership or licensing of the videos you submit, and using it does not grant you any rights to the underlying video.

No redistribution of others' content

You agree not to use transcripts, summaries, or any other output generated by this tool to republish, resell, or otherwise redistribute someone else's copyrighted video content or commentary as your own, or in a way that infringes the original creator's rights.

Copyright complaints

If you believe content processed through VideoMelter infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us at support@videomelter.com with enough information for us to identify the material and understand the basis of your complaint. We may investigate and take appropriate action, including removing or disabling access to affected results or accounts.

Not affiliated with YouTube/Google

This tool is an independent, unofficial utility. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by YouTube, Google, or any video creator whose content is processed. "YouTube" is a trademark of Google LLC, referenced here only to describe compatibility. If you enable the optional "What the Comments Say" feature, that feature uses YouTube API Services, and by using it you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service; Google's Privacy Policy applies to Google's handling of the data involved.

Transcript accuracy

Transcripts and summaries are generated using a combination of official captions, AI video transcription, and speech-to-text models. They may contain errors — misheard words, misattributed speakers, garbled names/technical terms, or (for AI-summarized output) occasional inaccuracies typical of AI-generated text. Do not rely on the output as a verbatim or authoritative record where accuracy is important, including legal, medical, safety, financial, or academic purposes, without independently verifying it against the source video.

AI-generated output

Some output is generated using AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. AI-generated output may not be unique — similar output may be generated for other users from similar source material. We do not guarantee that any output is suitable for a particular purpose or free of errors.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may limit, throttle, or block use that we reasonably believe violates these terms.

Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

VideoMelter offers a free plan with limited monthly usage, and one or more paid subscription plans with higher limits. Current plans and pricing are shown on our pricing page. A paid subscription is a recurring subscription that automatically renews at the beginning of each billing period until cancelled, plus any applicable taxes, processed by Stripe — VideoMelter never sees or stores your card number.

Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to VideoMelter for abuse of the service, violation of these terms, or non-payment. This can include removing stored outputs associated with your account and preventing re-registration. If we terminate your paid subscription without cause, we will refund the unused prepaid portion of your current billing period.

No warranty / as-is

This tool is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, availability, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee the tool will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this tool, including reliance on inaccurate transcript/summary output or unavailability of the service.

Changes

We may update these Terms as VideoMelter changes. Minor changes (clarifications, typo fixes, administrative updates) take effect as soon as they're posted here, and continuing to use VideoMelter afterward means you accept them. For material changes — including changes to billing terms or to how your information is used — we'll give you notice (for example by email or an in-app notice) and, where the law requires it, we'll get your acceptance before the change takes effect. Continuing to use VideoMelter is not, on its own, acceptance of a material change.

Business transfers

If VideoMelter is sold, merged, or transfers substantially all of its assets to another party, your account and associated information may be transferred as part of that transaction. Any new owner would continue to be bound by the commitments in this Privacy Policy unless you're notified of, and agree to, a new one.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. VideoMelter is operated from Ontario, Canada.
